A blast from the past

I have been up in our loft today collecting a monitor we want to use at the photo club exhibition tomorrow and while I was looking for the cables I found this old Null Modem lead.  In these days of USB and plug and play I wonder how many of us remember the delights of getting a serial interface device to talk to a computer?

It reminds me of a time long ago and far away when we had a Unisys computer at work and I managed to get it to use the electric typewriter as a printer ... we even had a 9K6 modem for sending emails to our head office!

And you tell that to kids today - and they won't believe you!
