Ivy Bee on Ivy Flowers

Colletes hederae on Hedera helix if you wish the latin.

The first recorded sighting in the UK of the ivy bee was only in 2001. It tends to be on the wing during September and October when ivy is in flower. This makes it one of the last solitary bee species to emerge each year. I have a lot of ivy and a lot of these bees visiting at the moment.
