The Royal Station

Sadly, time to leave Cley and to make our way home after a lovely week in North Norfolk. We enjoyed our last breakfast at the B&B, and some canine therapy too - Popsy, Rocco and Reuben (extras) were all keen to 'share', and each had a little bit of MrM's sausage after we'd finished eating!

First stop on the way home was at Wolferton to see the Royal Station. For over 100 years, until 1966, it was used by the Royal Family on their visits to Sandringham, about 2 miles away. Very pretty and well-kept.

We made much slower progress than expected on the next stage of the journey, mainly due to very heavy traffic. Then, when we were on the middle lane of the motorway, the worst rain that MrM or I have ever encountered - very suddenly, sheet rain reduced visibility to almost zero, and it was difficult to see the car in front, let alone what was happening on either side. Fortunately, all the traffic managed to slow down at the same rate and we all proceeded very cautiously until the rain eased off. Frightening!

Anyway, we reached our next stop, in Masham, rather later than intended. Too late for refreshment at Johnny Baghdad's, but just in time to pick up a couple of items that we had noticed in the gallery there last week. One final stop on the way back - for fish & chips...
