More Tea, Vicar?

We had to be out of the lodge by 10 o'clock, so we called in at Trerice, a National Trust property just outside Newquay. It's an Elizabethan Manor House (see extra) with a restored knot garden and a beautiful great hall.

From there we headed back to Taunton and Hestercombe House, another old "grand pile", where we had booked the sparuling afternoon tea the kids had bought Tess for Mothers' Day.

Although there was a wedding taking place in the adjacent rooms we were the only people in the restaurant so enjoyed excellent service and, as you can see, a sumptuous tea. We had to bring the cakes home in a box for later!
