Life in a Northern Town

September 30 - After Dinner Speech

My father in law is coming up 90 so I am making him a photo book. He worked for British Rail his whole career, at one point he was Station Master at Liverpool Lime Street and he ended up as a regional manager so there are loads of work photos taken at official functions.

I love this one - presumably taken sometime in the 70s, Derek is delivering a speech, my mother-in-law is wearing what I am sure was a very sparkly dress and the guy in the right is puffing away on a cigar. I expect they just ate  Black Forest Gateau.....

Most alarming of all is that if it was the 70s they’d be considerably younger than I am now!
