Not the Day I had planned

Although up late we had caught up with our schedule.

The plan was to drive to our meeting. Climb into the green car, and the starter motor gives a half hearted effort before dying.

Plan B. Climb into the silver car and starter motor gives a half hearted effort dying.

Oops! A few phone calls to cancel meetings. Final phone call to the RAC breakdown service. 2 appointments are made (one for each vehicle) and we await the arrival of the orange van.

The van arrives and Steve attends to the green car. After a very comprehensive computer check and tests, Steve confirms the battery is finished. "I can replace it, and as you have battery replacement cover, there is no charge."

The battery is duly replaced and checked. The engine starts and all of the electrical systems are reset and checked. Car fine.

I then point to the silver car. He looks at his computer. He has been advised to repair the Porsche.

Exactly the same sequence of events is followed through with the same result. New replacement battery and no charge.

Two in the one day. The outside temperature had dropped near to freezing and that exposed the battery weakness.

Both cars are now fine. The service Steve provided was first class. And no bill at the end of the proceedings. I am one very satisfied RAC Member of 50 years standing.

Luckily I had all the various codes to reactivate radios etc. Have you?
