Red Admiral enjoying the sunshine

The day started quite chilly but the sun came out and so did a host of these butterflies. Several of them were sunning themselves on the garden wall and in the breeze it was easier to get a shot of them there than on the flowers.

Fortunately we seem to have escaped the rain that has troubled other parts of the UK and I got my new pear tree planted.
