TIPTOE THROUGH TULIPS

Backblipped on 3rd October

Apologies I didn't get to put these on Blip yesterday just didn't feel too well.

These wooden tulips were bought from a craftsman at Buckland Abbey in Devon some years ago.  I love things made out of wood, as long as it's done with conservation in mind.  These were.  When we lived in Somerset we used to go out a lot to visit local historical houses and estates.  This one was a really lovely one.

G went back yesterday evening, otherwise I had a quiet day at home.

Buckland Abbey
Buckland Abbey is near Yelverton in Devon, in the Tavy Valley and was founded by Cistercian Monks in 1278 and farmed the estate.  It went through Henry VIIIs dissolution of monastries etc.  It was also at one time, I believe, owned by Sir Richard Grenville the Younger and Sir Francis Drake, both of whom changed the shape of they abbey and it became a beautiful house.  It is now owned by The National Trust and is part museum and part house and filled with treasures.  It is a lovely place to visit.

Thanks for dropping by, hope you are all well - see you all tomorrow.
