Steak

New York strip steak, broccoli, and salad with radish. Wine: Robert Mondavi Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon Napa 2016.

The food was all great. We have never felt compelled to try a Mondavi wine before, since we imagined them to be more of an overpriced commodity trading on an old an well known name. I decided it was time to give them a chance, and to make sure I gave them a fair shake with a respectably rated bottle. We’ll see if it opens up a bit more before it’s done, but so far I find it not bad, but not terribly interesting, without any complexity to speak of, and priced well beyond its quality level (even for a Napa—Napa wines are almost always priced beyond what their quality justifies). I’m glad to have finally made the experiment, though.
