Cushty

In Northern Ireland on the Antrim coast today, and had a fabulous lunch experience. I generally reject the proliferation of chain restaurants, global retailers and bland corporate outlets, hiding under pseudo-local gimmicky names. So a recommendation for a little locally operated eatery in Cushendun was tested, and by thunder I had the finest locally, freshly made shepherds pie/bacony cabbage etc of my life!

Struck up a long craic session with the owners, Bert and Collette, who were brilliant company. They run their business in a National Trust property, but don’t let that put you off, there’s not a whiff of NT corporate, chintziness or micro management anywhere!

Worth visiting, even diverting well off your route to do so. (Local caves are Game of Thrones location too apparently)

Right, off to see what Portstewart nightlife has to offer!
