The Wall

A full day riding up to the National Memorial Arboretum for 'Ride To The Wall', an annual event that takes place on the first Saturday of October.

I met up with 3 friends at the Shurdington Rounabout above the A417 (which leads up Crickley Hill to the Cotswold hills). We then rode to Strensham Services on the M5 and met up with approximately 400 other riders.
When we got to the N.M.A. it was announced that there were over 6,000 bikes counted in and a lot more people as there were pillions on the bikes and also people come by car and public transport.

It's day of remembrance for all those military personnel that have given their lives in the service of their country since the Second World War.
'The Wall' contains every single one of those names, over 16,000 killed in action or acts of terrorism since 1948 in over 50 operations around the world including NATO, UN or other international coalitions.
It's a sobering place, huge and still growing with the memorials, plaques, dedicated areas etc.
