Flowers of Life: Initium

I'm making the most of public artworks related to Tampere's 240th anniversary celebrations! I'm starting to reach the bottom, and some enthusiasm is needed to brighten my day (making possible by my lovely husband).

Art along the Tammerkoski Rapids is exhibited for 240 hours and it will end tomorrow. In the picture is one of the Flowers of Life - the art work called Initium is located in the Koskipuisto park and it consists of large flowers with UV lights that glow and float in the dark. The work draws influences from the symmetry of nature and cosmos, as well as from the dimensions in them. The park was full of people watching the Dancing Fountain show.

Also the Tampere Festival of Light started today. The streets of the Tampere city centre are illuminated with light fixtures from traditional light figures to urban art projected onto empty walls. The extra light is very much welcomed!
