a Scots life

Just what you want in the kitchen....

We had a lovely day out today, despite mostly wet weather.  I've been wanting to visit Callendar House in Falkirk for a while, & there is an exhibition on Roman skeletons unearthed in York, thought to be the remains of gladiators.  First we had a short walk along a bit of the Antonine Wall in the grounds, then as the rain got heavier, we headed indoors.  The exhibition was fascinating, very glad we went today, as it finishes tomorrow.
The rest of the museum was very good indeed, worth a visit.  Especially the very good cafe.
The best of it was the magnificent Victorian kitchen complete with costumed housekeeper to tell you all about it and demonstrate the technology of the time.  It's one of the locations in Outlander too, for fans like me, one of the most dramatic scenes in the second series took place here.
