Complementary Colors

I was on my way to the library, but no sooner had I got out the gate than I got stopped by this magnificent guy. Look at those antennae!!

This morning I made a batch of pear jam with chestnut honey and sage, from the Blue Chair Jam Cookbook. Every recipe seems to have at least one exotic ingredient--an obscure liqueur or a condiment you've never heard of. But the photos are gorgeous and the recipes are clearly written. As for my pear jam, I think I went too light on the flavorings; I'm not getting much of a hit of anything except sugar. It may change after it sits overnight.
