Kissing Gate

One of the things I really enjoy is walking through woods when there is dappled sunlight streaming through the trees. Photographically it is difficult to capture because even if you are able to avoid direct sunlight and an over bright sky there is every chance that where the dappled sunlight is hitting the ground or rocks or the trees you will end up with over blown highlights. Either you have to under-expose massively and try lighten the shadows in post processing or you go for a more average exposure and then whack down the highlights and even then you may get blown out highlights. Luckily for me this image was taken in a fairly shady part of Tyninghame Woods. Normally kissing gates tend to be of wooden manufacture but this is wrought iron.
