Beneath Biscay

Braganza

Heading back to Gijón from our overnight stop in Guarda. M hadn't yet bought anything for her Mum and Bragança was the only large town before crossing back into Spain so we would have to stop here to look for a gift and have some lunch.

Neither of us had been here before and we had no particular preconception about the town. As it turns out the city is very picturesque, with an old town sat within the walls of its imposing castle.

We found a nice friendly restaurant in the main street and had the typical Portuguese pork with clams. Unfortunately by then it was Saturday afternoon and there were no shops open selling anything suitable as a gift. In the end we found some local cakes and biscuits as a gift in a 'Pingo Doce' supermarket on the edge of town. Then onwards to Gijon.
