An Interesting Day All Around

Got a good bill of health at the cardiologist's this morning, and the nurse was kind enough to pose with the doc's rhinestone stethoscope. It was the most entertaining doctor's visit I've had in a long time.

Our neighborhood escaped any power outages today, although other places were impacted: major road issues because traffic lights were out, some businesses had to close, banks shuttered. It appears random, one side of the road or the other, but it must have something to do with grids. They are gradually bringing the lines back up, as it appears the danger of high winds has passed. I hope we don't have to go through this with every threat of a storm or it's going to be a long winter.

Spent the afternoon cooking, trying out the new Instant Pot to make pot roast, which came out pretty darn good. I've always been terrified of pressure cookers, legacy of my mother, but this machine is quiet and efficient and seems to do a fine job. You put stuff in there, punch some buttons, and come back later to find that someone has made dinner!
