Pohutukawa kitten

Another early and chaotic morning due to Mr H's kitten. Mr H was insistent on naming him (yes, a he kitten) Buttercup. This kitten has not travelled away from home before, so he is kept inside at night. That is fine until between 0400 and 0430, when he decides that he should be outside.

This photo was taken a few hours later when he was outside and had demonstrated his climbing ability by scampering up the lower branches of the pohutukawa around the trunk of which part of the deck is built.

A little later he went up even higher and a tui flew into the branches above him. Fot the next few minutes the cat twitched and mewed while the tui taunted him by coming closer then hopping away to another branch higher up. Then flying to the adjacent tree, and back again.

He is back inside as I write this, and not particularly impressed about it as he had spent the whole day outside. He follows daughter J's large orange cat (T Rex), until hissed into going away. He explores the overgrown bank, or under the house. He ignores the humans in the household.
