Adelaide House, Alice Springs

Popularly known as The Alice, or simply 'Alice', Alice Springs is situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre (and hence also in the centre of the Red Centre).

The whole area is known as Mparntwe to its original inhabitants, the Arrernte, who have lived in the Central Australian desert in and around what is now Alice Springs, for tens of thousands of years. They're no 'johnny come lateleys'!

Adelaide House, in the photo I've blipped, was Alice Springs' first hospital, and operated as the only medical centre, in a vast area, until 1939. It's now a museum.
