A herd of woodland chamois lives in the forest of lower Chesieres-Villars. Today was the first time I had gone looking for them since the spring and was delighted to find them relaxing in the shade of the forest, perhaps preparing themselves for the rut which will start soon. I took a few shots then left them in peace. They probably hadn't been hunted at this altitude so we're not at all nervous today. Thank goodness the hunting season is over for them.
