Making a difference

In these troubled and uncertain times it often feels that we individuals have little control over events. In such moments of self doubt we should recall to mind the old and encouraging Scots proverb  "All things helps, quoth the cuddy wran, when she pished in the sea." (In the Scots language the wren is often known as a cuddy wran.)

This wren about to snatch a spider from its web is a modern reproduction of a stained glass panel from a 15th century window in the Zouche Chapel of York Minster.
