Autumn in the Nockberge

A high-level walk today up from Falkertsee to the Steinkopf, along a part of the ridge not yet travelled (by us). It was a very warm and sultry day with a gentle breeze from the south. The larches are turning yellow, the rowans, heather and berries on the hillsides all turning to reds and ochres. The frosts are doing their work. Plus a couple of extras to give an idea of the beauty and extent of the Nockberge region here in Carinthia, sandwiched between the High Tauern alpine range and the Karawanken on the southern border between Austria and Italy/Slovenia..
