Jake's Journal

Ljubljana, Slovenia

In an effort to delay the inevitable and mundane return to St Andrews Fiona and I have taking refuge in Slovenia thanks to some dirt cheap flights we found not but four days ago. We are fortunate in that respect.

One of the benefits of travelling out of season is that we have a full six-bed attic dorm to ourselves in one of the most comfortable hostels we have ever stayed in.

The city itself is uber-relaxed; being populated mainly by students who, when not in class, fill the myriad cafes and bars around the old town. The general pace of things is slow, the river that winds through the centre is slow as is the process of trying to catch the waiter's eye. The food is cheap and varied (we had Bosnian last night and Slovenian today) and the beer is as beer always is - delicious and moreish.

We're going to try and day trip tomorrow but with our track record that's not always easy...

p.s I couldn't edit this picture because I'm on a hostel computer but hopefully you get the jist.
