Gratitude

Photographically, I like the challenge of taking something small and making it appear large. I also like the idea of taking something that is totally familiar and seeing it afresh. My signet ring is both those things - small enough to sit on my little finger and so everyday that I hardly notice it. And nobody knows what is written inside - until now.
This ring has been on my right hand for thirty years when I inherited it from my mother's father. It had been given to him by his mother after he had nursed her through some dreadful illness - probably way back in the 1920's.
Now it's my turn to nurse my mother. And in turn, I suppose, this ring will be worn by one of my grandchildren - should there be any.
