Greenan Castle

Met the Glasgow RSPB local group at Dobbies near Ayr. We then headed for Doonfoot. It was dry with some sunshine so we had good visibility to look for birds.

There were lots of gulls - Common Gull, Black headed gull, Greater black backed and a couple of Mediterranean Gulls. There were a couple of Golden Eyes, some Teal, Red throated diver and Eiders. There were also Turnstone, Redshank, Greenshank, curlew, Lapwing, Oyster Catcher. Also both meadow and rock pipits. I counted 22 species in all. A great day out.

This is Greenan Castle a ruined castle that stands on a headland at one end of the bay.
