Architectural detailing

This is some architectural detail on a building in the Southbourne area of Bournemouth.
 
The main thoroughfare has a row of shops of all types with accommodation above, and many of the buildings have these mouldings on the walls.
 
I have been unable to find out much more.
 

Judging from dated buildings around, I would estimate the buildings to be from the turn of the 20th century.
