Reconciliation by Josefina de Vasconcellos

So today we went for a wander because hubby needed a haircut & I fancied having a browse through a cpl of 2nd hand shops. On the way back to the boat we visited the Cathedral ruins.
During WW2 the city, like many others, was bombed but the raid on the night of 14th November 1940 was the single most concentrated attack on any British city. For 11 hours the Luftwaffe dropped 500 tons of high explosives, 30 000 incendiaries and 50 landmines. More than 43,000 homes, over half of Coventry's housing stock, were damaged or destroyed along with the Cathedral, hundreds of shops & public buildings. The people must have been terrified.
The ruined Cathedral now stands for international peace and reconciliation.
