Sibling Chefs

My brother and I have the shopping gene, and OilMan doesn't, so while the cat's away.... Inspired by a visit from our kitchen designer/contractor/cabinet maker, my brother and his wife and I went to poke around Petaluma, which is a mecca for high end antiques and home design shops. The poking was fairly limited because a) it was cold b) we were hungry and c) it looked like rain. By the time we had satisfied the need for food at the Cuchina Paradiso (or some such name) it was raining in earnest so we went into an antique store which promised three floors of goodies.

On the third floor we found a very high end kitchen designer who had displays of "country style kitchens which were gorgeous. Dana and I would both love them except that a) our houses aren't nearly big enough b) neither are our pocketbooks. But Rick and Meg and I had a good time talking to the designer and taking pictures of his work so we could go home and have our contractor knock it off.

Home again we set about making dinner for the masses teenage boys and their parents. Rick and I have commented on the similarities/differences in our respective houses. One similarity is the big counter where we can cook together--something we really enjoy doing. Meg took this picture of us showng off a bit for the camera. Every speck of food was eaten. Rudy, the mini dog even ate all the napkins.
