Clouds and wind.....

It was about blue sky, clouds flat like hands with fingers spread out, wind which whipped your ice cream from its cone before having time for that delicious bite and heat that would send whats left of the icecream dripping down your hot sticky hand - it was 28C today and windy as ever, a nor'west wind and dusty down at the river bed.

I've been enjoying some time with Daughter E the last couple of days. She was with me last night for yesterdays last light, and again today along with Mum. We had a little lunch, went to the estuary at Waikuku, did our groceries and then Daughter E and I headed down to the local riverbed, far too windy to linger just a couple of quick shots before heading home.

Breaking news on TV tonight, a surge of water coming down the Waimakariri river, people are being asked to keep away from low lying areas, this is caused from the rain on the West Coast.

Also fires south of Christchurch causing concern as the strong wind fields them. One house already gone, two others damaged - all lifestyle blocks.

Thinking of our family and friends in Australia as they continue to battle with the heat and bush fires, day after day, after day.

Just a quiet night in front of the TV with hubby tonight.
