Clouded Yellow

After a leisurely breakfast we ambled out to explore the local area. There’s a convenient 5km walk that encircles the hotel and passes over the surrounding hills. At 27C it was a sunny treat after the mizzle that was the LD at the weekend.

In extras, Site Transitoire, a sculpture created by Jean-Paul Philippe in 1993. It represents the three basic positions of human existence in space: sitting, standing or lying down. It comprises a window, a chair and a desk. Out of place in its surroundings if you ask me.

All of the local fields have been ploughed but despite them being brown, the layers formed by the hills (crete senesi) were still majestic, and even magical above a cloud inversion. They didn’t capture well though so I’m blipping one of the many Clouded Yellow butterflies we saw fluttering amongst various fritillaries, small whites and a few blues. A first for me :-)
