Life through the lens...

By ValC

Holding on.

Another beautiful sunny day.
Frosty first thing, but as we drove to Harrogate the countryside sparkled as the low golden sunlight shone on the frosty fields.
It was misty in places, but we had glorious sunshine for the whole of the walk.

Eighteen of us set out from Harlow Moor Road, and walked to Birk Cragg, through the woods to Harlow Hill, round the outside of Harlow Carr Gardens, through the pine woods, and back to the car.
Very muddy in places, but then we are used to that now!

This is a photo of one of the mighty oaks clinging on to the bank, struggling against ground errosion, as the bank is crumbling into Birk Beck.
It is a wonder how they manage to stay upright. Especially with all the rain we have had in the past months.
Another of nature's wonders!

After the awful meal we had last time at the Smiths Arms, Beckwithshaw, we decided not to join some of the others, and had a picnic lunch in Leathley, overlooking Otley Chevin (Except we couldn't see across the valley as it was covered in mist!)

I hope this weather continues. I would much rather have cold frosty sunny weather, than milder but rain, or dull.
