Loch Lomond

Couldn’t resist another shot of Loch Lomond taken from Balloch. It was late afternoon and the sun came out. The hills were fairly clear and l think you can just make out Ben Lomond in the far distance. We had a busy day walking through Balloch Castle Country Park where two small deer ran across our path. We headed off into the nearby countryside to locate a farm from my sister’s husband’s family and then caught a train to Helensburgh the family history now being complete.

After a short rain shower it cleared up as we walked up the hill to the wonderful Hill House. It was designed by Charles Mackintosh for the Blackies family and is a beautiful sight inside. The lightness and decoration being very ahead of the time. Unfortunately the exterior of the house was not so well constructed and is currently enclosed in a protective cover to dry out before they decide how to remedy it. You do however get to walk on the scaffolding platforms inside the covering to view the exterior.

Another fun packed day.
