Between fen and mountains

Lunch in the square

The Café de l’Union is just on the right of the square. It is the hub of our next village which has no other shops and it does a good lunch for €10. Toys are left in the square for all the local children to play with which is nice. We decided to call on friends in another nearby village and walk up to Fillols to eat. The walk was only a bit more of an hour but very pretty and just long enough to work up an appetite. It was a fixed menu of Boulets à la Liège, beef and pork meatballs in a beer sauce reduction. It was very tasty. Our Danish neighbours came round in the afternoon for tea and wanted an explanation of the madness of Brexit. I just have to apologise to people who ask me now.
