Quince Jelly

Today’s picture is of the Quince Jelly, which I made this morning once the Quince “mush” had dripped through the cloth all night. I had forgotten just how fast this reaches setting point so rather than have it set in the preserving pan while I “skimmed” it, I decided to put it into jars and skim it once it was cold. Two jars and of course, the taster to be eaten with bread this evening. I used my new preserving pan, which I purchased from Lakeland a while ago; an excellent buy and well worth the cost.

I cooked a full Sunday lunch, making everything Vegan. It seems to take much longer than normal. I made gluten free Vegan Yorkshire puddings. If you ate them with your eyes closed, in my opinion, they tasted the same as normal gluten free puddings; they just did not look like them! I also made leeks in Vegan cheese sauce, which were excellent.

Yesterday we watched “The Game Changer”, which has made us both very keen to continue this way of eating. My husband was not convinced, until he watch this film, that you could get all the protein you need from a plant based diet. It is a film that uses a lot of athletes and some actors; they explain that they are on a Vegan or plant based regime and still have muscles, which they did not get from eating meat protein. Amongst the “stars” were Lewis Hamilton, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Lee and many more, including weight lifters, boxer and various other athletes and celebrities? My husband is now completely convinced!

An afternoon of crafts, probably crochet although I need to get my temperature blanket up to date.

The temperature at GMT noon was eleven degrees Celsius; lots of sunshine, but not much warmth in it.
