I'm going away at Christmas and for the first time, I should have the opportunity to do some underwater photography. I need a camera for this (I'm not willing to risk my smartphone in a bag), but I'm reluctant to pay out for a piece of kit I'm not likely to use very much.

I've been looking at 'tough cameras' and although the market is relatively limited, there is quite a (price) range and they all have their quirks/flaws. Does anyone have any experience/suggestions?
