Chinese Sacred Lily

aka Narcissus tazetta.

This form with the wildly exotic and misleading name may have got its name through being brought to America by Chinese immigrants. Flowering around New Year, it provides colour and scent for a couplw of weeks. The 'paperwhite' narcisus, often sold in Garden Centres and as cut flowers here are forms of the same species.

I have grown these outside on the patio and only brought them indoors as the flowers open. This keeps them reasonably upright. (They will rapidly elongate in the warmth and soon flop if brought in too early.)
