La Favorita - Falabella

La Favorita store was founded by the brothers Ramón and Angel García, born in Spain. In 1891 they settled in this corner and, in 1905, they set up an office in Paris to directly bring French and European fashion to Rosario.
The first building they owned was, and would continue to be until 1921 by the sisters María Cristina and Emma Echagüe. It was a ground floor premises that soon showed space limitations due to the accelerated expansion that the business experienced from the beginning and had to rent the boundary building along Libertad Street (today Sarmiento) which was a bourgeois house on the ground floor and 1st floor, also owned of the Echagüe.
The most distinguished families, the most famous dressmakers and tailleurs of Córdoba, Santa Fe, Paraná, Corrientes, San Nicolás and other cities in the interior, buy directly at the "Gran Tienda La Favorita" for being the best stocked and the one that sells cheaper .
In 1910, the constant expansion of the business and professional zeal of the Garcia led them to consider the need to build a larger building and specifically designed for their needs. This is how in 1912 "La Favorita" opens facilities, without being able to do without, however, the rental of the previous buildings.
Finally comes the stage of the Third Building, which is what Falabella occupies today. The economic crisis looming in 1927 did not prevent the society "García Hnos. Y Cía." Under the protection of ever-increasing benefits, it will address the construction of the highly desired large and unique building, which with various heights will support and give unity to the whole quadrant of the block. The last headquarters of "La Favorita" was possible once the land and properties that were previously rented could be acquired.
In 1927 the pre-existing buildings were demolished, the Catalan architects Presas and Armán drafted the project, and the works began, which were assigned to Candia and Isella builders and that would continue until 1929 in three stages, without interrupting sales of business not a single day.
Yes, incredible that they have never closed their doors, even in the middle of the construction of such a beautiful building.
