Grey Seals

Yesterday I went down to Burwick with a few of the Orkney Field Club to count grey seal pups. A count two weeks ago yielded 35, but now there were 97 in the area counted but we could see sone distantly, so over 100 really. The weather was beautiful . A young peregrine caused panic in some herons and some ravens when it swooped after some pigeons. We disturbed a woodcock which had probably just migrated in, over 125 curlew and 4 stonechat at Burwick. All seals were photographed from a distance, from the cliff-tops, and no animals were disturbed.
