Robberg Nature Reserve. “The Island”

There were three possible walks; 45 mins., 2 hrs. and 4+ hrs. Despite some discussion we all knew that different members of the group would want to do different lengths of walk but no one would commit until we completed the first half of the walk. Cathie and Frances headed back but the rest of us continued on to round The Point. The path skirted the coastline and varied from shoreline to clifftop. The scenery and wildlife were amazing and very accessible. In particular, the Cape Fur Seals were plentiful, noisy and smelly as we passed by. The Black Backed Gulls had nested, at times, right beside the path and noisily defunded their nests as we walked past.
We headed back to our rented house for shade, beers and salads before we walked the length of “Pletty” killing time before Happy Hour at Moby’s on the beach. We were in no mood or condition to wander further for food so later we partook of what we had seen the previous evening. The skewers of Prawns, calamari and line caught fish were fabulous (A) but the Cajun Spiced Butterfish and salsa was equally good (M).

Night spent at 13 Bay Sands, Plettenberg Bay.
