The Twilight Hour

I awake at 3 a.m. CMC's side of the bed is cold. Is she letting the cat out, a call of nature? Twenty minutes later and my knees are knocking. Then I realise. There's no need to search any part of the house. I get the car keys and put in my teeth. After driving two miles I turned round and returned home to take off my PJs. You can never be too careful.

I headed for Stromness and there she was. Agog. In front of the wool shop window. Where else? The plus point was she noticed I had my teeth in. I put her push bike on the roofrack and we returned home. Wool-less.
