(Not so) Silly Saturday....

Before we left to drive to Perth today, we attended a community meeting to promote Bushfire Ready Awareness. There are no paid , professional fire fighters within an hours drive from where we live. All the firefighters are locals who volunteer. They do the most amazing job and we are so grateful to them.

Today’s talk was about preparing your land to be a s safe as possible in the case of fire. As I said a couple of days ago, we have had our wild grasses slashed, firebreaks done and tree limbs trimmed. Many unfortunately don’t .
I raised the question of having a local street liaison group - looks as though it may be me :-(
I think a permanent local would be more sensible but maybe to get the ball rolling...........

We also have to try to educate the tourists who like to camp in our beautiful south west and light campfires!!! In the summer!!! When the wind is blowing!!! Blimey!!!

Back in Perth now. Can’t hear the birds, just traffic :-(
