bodysnatcher

The skelton of the notorious murderer and body snatcher William Burke (Burke & Hare) in the Edinburgh University Anatomy Museum. Before passing the death sentence the Lord Justice addressed Burke and said '...that if it is ever customary to preserve skeletons, yours will be preserved, in order that posterity may keep in remembrance of your atrocious crimes.' Burke was hanged in Edinburgh on 28th January 1829. Here's the gruesome bit: his skelton shows that his neck was not broken so he must have choked to death on the rope!
(by the way...I had special permission to photograph the skelton)
