Sand hill cranes chortle and settle on harvested fields in the silver light of a grey morning. Overhead flocks of geese call to one another and turn south. A tug on the river passes, the low hum of the motor throbbing. Minutes later waves run rhythmically upon the sandy shore.
And we’re here. In wonder, bearing witness.
