It's a hard life ....

Took advantage of the dry weather to head over to Aberfeldy and its Birks this morning.

It is always a lovely walk but never more so than today - gorgeous autumnal colours with return path carpeted in fallen copper beech leaves. You can see why Burns took inspiration from his surroundings here.

Afternoon was spent on the genealogy mooc I am doing - learning quite a bit from it and then researching my East Lothian ancestors with a view of writing a history of the Cairncross families from there (of which mine is one).

An early supper is cooking and we will then head out to the local bonfire & fireworks display.

Another good day .... retirement has much going for it
