Museum day

My favourite mask from Papua New Guinea. Made of shells and plant material, it represents one of the tribe's honoured ancestors. Usually this mask has been barely visible in the display cabinets. But since my last shift there has been some reorganizing of the lighting and it has made a big difference. It was as if I was seeing many objects for the first time.

During my shift I spoke to lots of different tourists including an interesting academic from India, a Japanese dad with his two non English speaking children and a group of art students looking for inspiration!

Horrid wet journeys both ways...buses cancelled and roads closed. But off to Book Club this evening so not all bad!
