Club Hotel Casapueblo

Casapueblo
Punta Ballena was an inhospitable and beautiful place when Carlos Paéz Vilaró - a Uruguayan painter and sculptor - bought that privileged land, at the price of a box of cigarettes for every square meter. In a first stage, he raised only a tin ranch, then a house - "La pionera" - and then the project began, unfinished like any organic work of "Casapueblo". The Artist, like Gaudí, never used a construction plan that hangs from the cliffs facing west.

It is without a doubt, one of the main attractions of the area. Its spontaneous construction carried out during 36 years in hard work and with its own hands, is considered universally as a "habitable sculpture". It has several rooms in the direction of the sea on the cliffs, where exhibitions of his paintings, sculptures and ceramics are permanently held.
