Please form an orderly queue. Stop swanning around

Going home day today.
Roughly half way between the Ayrshire coast and Arnside, on the north Solway coast, is the Wildlife and Wetlands Trust’s reserve at Caeraverlock. It seemed a good place at which to have lunch.

We were in time for the feeding of the wild Swans. This takes place twice a day until March. The swans are a mixture of Mute Swans and a smaller number of Whooper Swans. It is really to help the latter group that the feeding takes place.

The Reserve is also known for the thousands of Barnacle Geese which overwinter here. My extra, a poor photograph, shows just a few of the several hundred we saw today.

Good to be home but it was a very enjoyable four days.
