Redwings

This morning the birdwatching group went to Wood Lane Nature Reserve.  It was cold and drizzly and apart from F and I only two others turned up.

We went into the first hide and the warden was there with a shotgun.  He was shooting a rat that was under the feeder.  Rats would decimate the nests of the ground breeding waders that nest there so need to be culled. As soon as he'd gone another rat was arrived and was feeding so plenty more for him to shoot I think.

We saw a variety of birds while we were there including these two Redwings that were feeding on hawthorn berries.
