Taking the biscuit

Starting at 4am, twelve hours in the car transported us back to the provincial capital of Lichinga. The majestic scenery of Niassa Province accompanied us, juxtaposed against the terrible poverty of rural communities in this region.

Only biscuits and sweet drinks were available as fuel, so we didn’t arrive in robust shape, which was made further un-robust by takeaway pizzas. After that had been devoured Michelle had to witness me losing my sh*t over glitchy finance processes that weren’t working remotely. This wasn’t my most elegant end to an evening.

A day of pre-dawn start, long car journey, poor diet and no coffee had taken its toll. Fortunately then for us both, an energising sleep awaited us in the comfortable temperatures of highland Lichinga.
