Umpqua River Lighthouse

The Umpqua River was a major port for Oregon in the 1800s as the mighty Columbia was too difficult and dangerous for navigation.
The first Umpqua Lighthouse was built in 1857 next to the mouth of the river and didn't survive.
The present Umpqua River Lighthouse was first lit in 1894.

It's unique among the Oregon Lighthouses as its Fresnel lens shines two white beams then a red beam as it rotates.
The beams of light reach out to sea 23 miles.
